夜来香 (Fragrance of the Night)

The wedding excitement is getting to me now. I’m starting to feel the anxiety about the wedding this weekend; worrying about the little little details that I might forget and can’t help wondering how things will be. You know, it can get quite stressful when you have handle an important event which you know has no take two. I mean if you screw up something small..it may go unnoticed. But if something big happens, it’ll be part of the memory of that event! And if it’s something that means a lot to the host…you can imagine that impact! *gulp* Anyways, I’ll continue to commit the weddings and preparations in God’s hands. Will let Him handle the unforeseeable stuffs! Right now, I can only think about my hot pink dress (and wonder if I’ll look silly) and my black saree (and wonder if I’ll look old :P) *grins* I can’t wait to check on my tealight candle holders too. Fingers crossed they’ll be fine.

Met up with Shanti from Temple Of Fine Arts (TFA) last night along with Kav & parents. It was my 2nd time to TFA since Gita’s wedding. Never dined there before last night. Must say I’m impressed with the cleanliness and also the quality of the vegetarian food. The samosa I had after our discussion was superb! And in case you are not aware of it, TFA actually serves food at the Annalakshmi (the restaurant) for free. Well, not exactly entirely free. You are not required to pay, but if you do want to make an offering, then, they kinda subtly tell you to make a generous offering. So, in that sense…I guess most pple would end up paying more than the worth? Hence, it’s an act of generosity from TFA but not entirely NPO. Smart eh? Anyways, TFA holds classes like classical dance, music classes and some language classes too. Pretty nice place. Should go visit if you get the chance. I for sure will be back again to check out the dance for the next wedding in less than 2 weeks *shiver* and also for my samosa 😛 *teehee*

I keep repeating this song in my WMP since I downloaded it yesterday. My couz requested the band to play this song call 夜来香 which means “Fragrance of the Night” literally. The original song was sung by this lady call Li Xiang Lan (李香蘭) which is in a very bubbly, flowery mood. Kinda a little Hawaiian too. BTW, I love all the Chinese oldies. I find the voices of these singers in the olden days really unique and totally different. I don’t know why & how they can sound so different. Voices evolve through time? But anyways, the version that I’m listening to right now is a totally different setting. It’s from Cai Qin (蔡琴) who is a famous singer in the early 70s (I think. Have to clarify with Jup). Her voice is very good too – has the depth and the texture. She did a cover of this song in Jazz mood. Pretty good. For my couz’s wedding, it’s going to be in Jazz. Check it out below (sorry, I know the buffering requires superbly high quality connection)

I’m still unable to decide on my KL trip in the beginning of July. My convo falls on July 5 and that’s a week before our long weekend. King & Queen can’t make it and now I’m asking 2e & 2j if they wanna come along. Problem is they only give me 2 seats for my guests. Not that we are all that excited to go into the hall and bore ourselves crazy; but I feel bad if whoever the 3rd person who comes along have to wait outside for at least an hour. Seems pretty sucky rite? Chances are Bibs will come along (if God permits)…so, we’ll see. I have to respond by June 12. That’s just 9 days away. I’m worried I’ll be caught up with all the happenings in my life that I forget about it. I know RogTi has responded already… 😛 Super fast! The thought of going there just for formality sake seems a little silly. My parchment is already peacefully resting in my drawer 😛 So, I have literally graduated. I don’t know if I’ll get a mock cert on my convocation! *teehee*

Oh well. I better get back to some serious work. Will stop here for now. Write again if I get the chance. Gonna be baking every other night with Queen to prepare for the wedding this weekend. Oh..BTW…did I mention I signed up for free swimming lessons at PSC? Begins this Saturday at 8.30AM. Wish me luck..I have not decided if I should skip the 1st lesson or just go for it and wear myself out crazy by end of the day (it’s the wedding day) 😛

Toodles!
